Welcome to Southern Pines Leather.

My name is Pat Wells. I hand make each item that I sell. I have always loved working with my hands and design. My interest in leatherwork started many years ago when working as a cowboy for a ranch in Florida. The saddles fascinated me with their designs and craftsmanship. When my wife and I became empty nesters, I decided to take up a hobby. Al McDearmid, a saddle maker of fifty years, became a friend and mentor of mine. He offered to teach me the art of working with leather and saddle making.

What began as a hobby has become a passion. I have built many items ranging from custom saddles and belts to exclusive gift items that I have designed. I take pride in each item I make. Product

Each product is produced using the highest quality materials that I can find. Our hardware is solid brass, stainless steel, or copper whenever possible. Our saddle trees are chosen for their high quality craftsmanship. Our products are made to last.
